Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has said that Sheikh Hasina is not dead, and neither is the Awami League

“Awami League is the oldest democratic and largest party in Bangladesh. It liberated the country. Democracy and elections are not possible without the Awami League,” Joy stated in a video message released on Wednesday, indicating a potential return to politics.

He condemned the ongoing attacks on ordinary citizens, grassroots leaders, activists of the Awami League, and the minority community.

Joy said "I had said that my family would no longer engage in politics. We cannot remain idle in the face of the attacks on ordinary people. The family of Bangabandhu stands with the people of Bangladesh."

He encouraged party leaders and activists to stand with courage, assuring them, "You are not alone. We are here. The family of Bangabandhu has not gone anywhere. We are with you. We are ready to do whatever is necessary to protect the country and the leaders and activists of the Awami League."
