Students and citizens will remain vigilant and alert until the proposed interim government is established and the state is reformed as demanded, said Asif Mahmud, one of the coordinators of the Anti-discriminatary Student Movement.
“The interim government's responsibility will be to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the student-citizens, not to serve the interests of any specific party,” Asif said in a Facebook post on Wednesday (7 August).
He wrote that the student-led popular uprising aims to reform the state and eliminate the fascist system.
Asif further stated that the Anti-discrimination Student Movement remains organised to counter any form of communal incitement, damage to public property, and disorder.
“We have fought for peace, and now we are also working to heal the wounds of that struggle. We salute the student-public who have taken on the responsibilities through voluntary activism,” he added.
