BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia said the freedom from the illegitimate government has been acheived through long struggles, sacrifices, and relentless movements.
"Those who fought with all their might have made the impossible possible. We pay our respects to the hundreds of martyrs. This victory brings new possibilities for us," she said in a video message at a rally organised by BNP at Naya Paltan on Wednesday (7 August).
Khaleda Zia added, "The students and the youth are our future. To realise the dreams for which the youth shed their blood, we must build a knowledgeable, competent, and democratic Bangladesh. We need to ensure the rights of people of all religions and ethnicities in a prosperous, exploitation-free Bangladesh."
Khaleda Zia emphasised the need to empower the youth to build a modern Bangladesh based on peace and progress.
"We must build on the foundations of love, peace, and knowledge, not destruction, revenge, and vendetta," she added.
