In light of the ongoing unrest across the country, the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations scheduled for 11 August have been postponed following the destruction of question papers.
"Question papers have been burned in the attacks, so exams will be postponed," said Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar, the chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, in a media briefing on Tuesday (6 August).
Earlier, authorities postponed HSC examinations till 10 August.
"Given the prevailing situation and considering the safety of students, we have decided to postpone the HSC exams until further notice," said Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar, chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, on 1 August.
"A new examination schedule will be announced once the situation stabilises," he added.
The HSC exams, which began on 30 June, were initially postponed on multiple occasions due to the escalating violence and unrest in the country amid quota reform protests.
Over 14 lakh from nine general education boards, the technical board, and the madrasa board were due to sit the HSC exams this year.
However, the ongoing protests, which have turned violent at times, have forced authorities to prioritise student safety.
