Sheikh Hasina has resigned as Prime Minister of Bangladesh and left the country in a military helicopter.
At that time she was accompanied by her younger sister, Sheikh Rehana, reports AFP.
Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, during his address to the countrymen at 4pm Monday (5 August), said a new interim government will be formed today.
According to AFP, both Sheikh Hasina and her sister have relocated to a secure location.
Before departing, Sheikh Hasina intended to record a speech but was unable to do so.
