The military has been deployed at strategic points across the capital, setting up barricades and conducting vehicle searches following widespread protests sparked by the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement's one-point demand for the government's resignation and its "March to Dhaka" porgramme.
Citizens have been subjected to questioning at various checkpoints in the capital since morning on Monday (5 August).
Heavy security presence has been visible with the army, police, Ansar, BGB, and Coast Guard personnel jointly patrolling the streets.
The security measures were particularly tight around the entry points to the city.
Despite the curfew, the protesters have been gathering at various points in the city.
The government has imposed a curfew in the capital Dhaka and other parts of the country which came into effect from 6pm on Sunday (4 August), as well as general holiday from Monday (5 August) to Wednesday (7 August) by an executive order.
It came as at least 98 people have been killed during nationwide clashes amid the protest led by the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement demanding the resignation of the government and counter-rallies by the ruling Awami League on 4 August.
