Residents of several Dhaka neighbourhoods have reported disruptions in broadband internet services since Monday (5 August). However, services resumed after 3 hours.

The latest internet restrictions come amid ongoing protests across the country.

The government has reimposed a ban on mobile internet services and access to Meta platforms—Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram amid escalating instances of violence.

Curfew has also been imposed indefinitely without any relaxation following widespread violence that killed at least 98 people across the country on Sunday (4 August).

Mobile internet was initially cut off on 17 July, with broadband services suspended the following day.

Both were restored under public pressure—broadband on 23 July and mobile internet on 28 July.
