Over a hundred have been injured in violent clashes between protesters and opposing groups in Rangpur

At least four people were killed and more than a hundred injured in clashes between the protesters of the non-cooperation movement and local Awami League leaders and activists in Rangpur.

The clashes occurred between 1pm and 2pm on Sunday (4 July).

The victims include Rangpur City Corporation's Ward No. 4 Councillor Haradhan Roy, his nephew and Swechasebak League activist Khorshu Mia. The identity of the fourth victim has not yet been confirmed.

Mizanur Rahman Mizan, the head of the Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue, confirmed the deaths of two individuals. The identities of the other two victims have been verified through various sources.

Protesters took to the streets of Rangpur to demand the fulfilment of their single-point agenda, leading to clashes with government supporters. Several individuals from both sides sustained injuries during the confrontation. As news of the clashes spread, student protesters organized scattered marches throughout the city, occupying alleys and streets.
