At least 58 people including police personnel have been killed as of 7.45pm during nationwide clashes amid the protest led by the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement demanding the resignation of the government and counter-rallies by the ruling Awami League.
The clashes erupted from around 11am on Sunday (4 August).
So far, a total of 58 people have been killed, including 13 policemen in Enayetpur, 3 each in Munshiganj, Bogura, Kishoreganj and Pabna, 4 each in Rangpur and Lakshmipur, 5 each in Feni and Sirajganj, 6 in Narsingdi, 2 in Dhaka and 1 each in Magura, Comilla, Barishal, Joypurhat.
13 Policemen killed in Sirajganj
Besides, at least 13 policemen were beaten to death in an attack on Enayetpur police Station in Sirajganj on Sunday (4 August).
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal confirmed the news to Bangladesh First today.
5 killed in Feni
At least five people have been killed in clashes between protesters and the ruling Awami League, law enforcement agencies.
Feni General Hospital Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr. Asif Iqbal confirmed the death toll.
3 Killed in Munshiganj
In Munshiganj, clashes erupted between protesters and leaders and activists of the Awami League, Chhatra League, Jubo League, and their affiliated organisations. During the confrontation, three individuals were shot and killed, and more than fifty others were injured.
The clashes occurred intermittently from 9:45am to 11:45am on Sunday.
Dr. Md. Abu Hena Jamal, the superintendent of Munshiganj General Hospital, confirmed the deaths of two individuals.
3 killed in Bogura
At least three people have been killed amid clashes in Bogura.
"Two people were brought here dead," said Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital Deputy Director Dr Wadud.
3 Killed in Kishoreganj
Three people have been killed amid clashes in Kishoreganj.
Dr. Muhammad Akram Ullah, Superintendent (Deputy Director), confirmed the deaths of two individuals, while Dr. Helal Uddin, the director of Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital, confirmed the death of the third person.
Clashes in Pabna leave 3 dead
At least three people have been killed in Pabna amid the clashes.
"The bodies have been kept in the hospital morgue," said Pabna Sadar Hospital Assistant Deputy Director Rafiqul Hasan.
Chhatra Dal leader killed during clash in Magura
A Chhatra Dal leader was killed during a clash with police in Magura.
Mehedi Hasan, also known as Rabbi, a senior joint general secretary of the district BNP's student wing, succumbed to gunshot wounds following a violent clash with police and Awami League leaders and activists.
The incident occurred in the Par Nanduali area at around 11:30am on Sunday (4 August).
4 killed in Rangpur during clashes amid protest
At least four people were killed and over a hundred sustained injuries during violent confrontations between protesters and opposing groups.
The clashes occurred between 1-2pm on Sunday (4 August).
"One of the deceased has been identified as Khorshu Mia, a local AL activist residing in the city's Gurati area. The identity of the other deceased individual remains unknown," said Sardar Mizanur Rahman Mizan, a physician at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
1 student killed in Jigatola, Dhaka
A student was killed in the clash between the supporters of Non-Cooperation Movement and ruling Awami League men in Jigatola, Dhaka.
Abdullah Siddique, a student of Shaikh Burhanuddin Post Graduate College, was declared dead after he was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital around 3:50pm.

1 killed, 70 injured in Joypurhat
Mehedi Hasan was killed and at least 70 others were injured in a series of clashes during an anti-discrimination student protest in Joypurhat.
The injured have been admitted to Joypurhat 250 General Hospital.
The incidents occurred on Sunday afternoon, (4 August). Hospital authorities confirmed that the body of Mehedi Hasan is currently at the Kalai Upazila Health Complex.
Violent clashes erupt in Old Dhaka amid protests
Violent clashes broke out between demonstrators and members of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in the Sadarghat area of Old Dhaka.
The confrontations began at around 11am on Sunday (4 August).
It soon spread through the alleys of Sadarghat, Banglabazar, Patuatuli, Raishaheb Bazar, and the court precincts, resulting in a chaotic and volatile situation.
Earlier in the morning, groups of protesters began gathering at Raishaheb Bazar and Tantibazar intersections in Old Dhaka.
In support of the demonstrators, over a hundred BNP-aligned lawyers also staged a protest march at the Dhaka Lower Court premises.
Simultaneously, BCL activists took positions in the area. The situation intensified when BCL leaders and activists started hurling bricks at the protesters. In retaliation, the demonstrators set fire to a police vehicle at the Raishaheb Bazar intersection.
In response to the escalating violence, businesses in Tantibazar, Islampur, and surrounding areas have shuttered, and all vehicular movement has ceased.
This unrest follows the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement's call for the government's resignation on Saturday (3 August).
HC dismisses petition to halt use of lethal force against protesters
The High Court has dismissed a petition seeking an injunction to cease the use of lethal force against protesters.
An HC bench composed of Justices Mustafa Zaman Islam and SM Masud Hossain Dolon, issued their ruling on Sunday (4 August).

The petition, filed on 29 July by Supreme Court lawyers Manzur-Al-Matin Pitom and Ainu Nahar Siddika Lipi, also requested the release of six coordinators from the anti-discrimination student movement held in DB custody.
The case had been scheduled for review on 31 July; however, due to Justice Dolon's illness, the bench was unavailable on Wednesday and Thursday, leading to a delay in proceedings.
Meanwhile, the protesters broke the gate of the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court and entered the premises at arund 11am on Sunday.
Protesters block Dhaka-Aricha Highway
Protesters blocked the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Manikganj to press for their one-point demand.
Students from various schools and colleges in the district occupied the highway at around 10am on Sunday (4 August).
Witnesses said students holding placards gathered at the Manra area of the Dhaka-Aricha highway. Guardians joined the students in solidarity, also taking to the highway.

Although the blockade halted general vehicular traffic, the protesting students allowed all emergency service vehicles to pass.
Ashraful Islam Raju, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination movement in Manikganj, stated, "We are conducting our protest peacefully to fulfil our demands. This movement will continue until our demands are met."
At least two persons were killed and several others were injured in a clash between protestors and Awami League men in Munshiganj.
“Two persons were brought dead and many other injured are being treated at the hospital. The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately,” said Munshiganj General Hospital Superintendent Abu Hena Mohammad Jamal.
Protestors gather at Aftabnagar, block Badda-Rampura road
In a bid to press their demands, protesters initiated a non-cooperation movement by blocking the Rampura-Badda road, gathering at Aftabnagar
Processions began converging in front of East West University at the Aftabnagar gate at around 10:45am on Sunday (4 August).

Students from East West University, BRAC University, and several other nearby educational institutions started assembling at the Aftabnagar gate.
During the gathering, the students held sticks and national flags, chanting slogans demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Protesters block major highways in Barisal
Barisal’s streets were seized by a wave of unrest as the student body from Government Brahman College (BM College) launched a protest demanding justice and political reform.
The demonstration started at 11am from the college’s main gate and rapidly escalated as students marched to the Nathullabad bus stand, where they obstructed the Dhaka-Barisal-Kuakata highway.

The authorities, meanwhile, remained on high alert amidst the chaos.
Clashes erupt as police use tear gas to break up Chattogram protest
In Chattogram's Newmarket area, police intervened with tear gas to disperse a gathering of protesters.

The unrest followed an earlier confrontation when activists dismantled loudspeakers at an Awami League event scheduled for 10 am, which intensified tensions.
The protesters, who had mobilised to advocate for quota reforms, took control of the area, resulting in several injuries before the police action restored order.
