A shopkeeper died in Chattogram after being shot during a clash between protesters and members of law enforcement agencies on Saturday (3 August).

The victim was identified as Md Shahid, 45, said Chittagong Metropolitan Police Additional Police Commissioner Crime Abdul Mannan Miah.

Shahid succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Park View Hospital in Chattogram city around 10:00pm, according to the hospital sources.

Witnesses said Shahid sustained pellet wounds as anti-government protesters clashed with law enforcers in the city’s Bohoddarhat area at 7:30pm.

Talking to media, Mannan Miah claimed that police did not open fire in Bohoddarhat area.

He, however, said that police fired tear shells and charged batons to disperse the unruly crowd.
