A 35-member business delegation from the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI), led by its President Ashraf Ahmed, left Dhaka today (4 August), for a five-day trip to Vietnam.

The delegation includes exporters, importers, manufacturers, and entrepreneurs from various sectors, including financial services, agro and food processing, tourism, healthcare, chemicals, ceramics, IT, logistics, textiles, and other manufacturing industries, reads a press release.

This visit aims to strengthen bilateral trade and economic relations between Vietnam and Bangladesh.

During their stay, the delegation will explore new opportunities for diversified exports, bilateral trade, investment, and regional connectivity. Bangladesh, strategically located between South Asia and Southeast Asia, is seen as an attractive market for Vietnamese investors. Strengthening trade with Vietnam could open new markets for Bangladesh, especially within ASEAN.

Despite increasing trends, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Bangladesh has not yet reached its full potential. In 2022-23, trade amounted to USD 1.10 billion, with Bangladesh exporting USD 96.22 million and importing USD 1.01 billion. Both countries are keen to expand their economic ties for mutual benefit.

During the visit, the DCCI delegation will engage in high-level business meetings with Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Chamber of Commerce France-Vietnam, and the Investment & Trade Promotion Centre. They will also organize the Vietnam-Bangladesh Business Forum and participate in B2B matchmaking sessions in Thai Binh Province and Ho Chi Minh City. Additionally, the delegation will visit industrial parks and ports in Ho Chi Minh City.

This initiative aims to explore untapped business opportunities, fostering shared economic prosperity for both nations.
