Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has instructed party leaders to meet with the coordinators of the ongoing Anti-Discrimination Student Movement to defuse the situation.

The responsibility has been given to AL presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Joint General Secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif and AFM Bahauddin Nasim.

This directive came after an emergency meeting at Gono Bhaban last night, according to sources present at the meeting. During the meeting, Sheikh Hasina emphasised the importance of being "careful" and "tolerant towards the general students."

The meeting also discussed the students' demands, as reported by several leaders in attendance. Following the Prime Minister's instruction, a team comprising leaders from the Awami League and the 14-party alliance will engage with the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement. They will report back to the party president after their discussions.

Awami League leaders and activists have been instructed to stay vigilant in their respective areas.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal met with the Prime Minister last night to discuss the ongoing issues, according to AL sources.
