At least ten people were injured in a clash between Anti-discriminatory Student Movement protesters and activists of the ruling Awami League's student wing, Chhatra League, and youth wing, Jubo League, on Friday.

The injured have received treatment at various local clinics.

The clash erupted after the Jumu'ah prayer at Chawk Bazar Jame Mosque in Lakshmipur.

It involved stone-throwing between the protesters and Chhatra League and Jubo League activists under the leadership of former district Jubo League president and Sadar Upazila Chairman Salah Uddin Tipu.

Mohammad Abu Bakar Siddique, Additional Superintendent of Police (Admin & Finance), told the media, "Lakshmipur was peaceful and entirely under our control. This incident happened due to Upazila Chairman Tipu’s provocation. If he had not stationed himself here with his activists, the stone-throwing would not have occurred.”
