Law enforcers have been instructed to refrain from unnecessary harassment and detention of students, said Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.

"Relevant ministry is working towards the release of detained HSC candidates. The primary demands of the students have already been met. I hope students will now return home to restore a conducive educational environment," he said at a press conference held at the political office of the AL president's political office in Dhanmondi on Friday (2 August).

Quader also said that the scope of the judicial inquiry commission investigating each murder has been expanded, with three judges now assigned to the commission.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has extended her deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and provided financial assistance to many families. Additionally, she has ensured the provision of comprehensive medical treatment for the injured," he added.

Addressing the opinions expressed by civil society, Quader acknowledged their respect for these views but emphasised the need for vigilance to prevent any third parties from exploiting these opinions to disrupt state peace and order.
