Students, teachers, lawyers, and the general public held rallies under the banner of the March for Justice across the country on Wednesday (31 July), announced by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, to press home their 9-point demand. During the march, dozens of protesters were injured as police baton-charged them and detained several.  

Barishal:

At least 10 students and journalists were injured as police baton-charged them while they were observing the March for Justice programme. Additionally, police detained at least 20 students from Barishal’s Judge Court and Aswani Kumar Hall area.

Sylhet:

Police dispersed protesters when they attempted to march towards Subidbazar in the city as part of the March for Justice programme. 

Around 12:30 pm, hundreds of students marched to the city's court point. 

A clash broke out when the protesters tried to move towards Subidbazar, prompting the police to resort to tear gas shells and sound grenades to disperse them, according to our correspondent from the spot.

In the Chattogram court area, protesting students, supported by a section of lawyers, staged a sit-in as part of the March for Justice programme. 

Starting from 10 am, students began gathering in front of the District Council building under the banner of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. After spending some time in front of the building, a section of lawyers led the students from the court premises, joining them in a procession with slogans, and entered the court grounds. 

Dhaka:

In Dhaka, students from Dhaka University (DU) and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) held a March for Justice rally towards the Supreme Court. 

A portion of Dhaka University teachers also joined the rally, expressing solidarity with the student movement. 

During the protest, DU teacher Shehreen Amin Bhuiyan was injured when police pushed her while she was trying to protect a student from being detained by the police. 

Police detained several students from the High Court area.

Thakurgaon:

In Thakurgaon, at least two students were injured as police baton-charged to disperse the protesters.
