Educational institutions will be reopened gradually, taking security risks into account, said Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury.
He made this announcement to journalists after a meeting with seven ministers, four secretaries, and top officials of law enforcement agencies at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday evening (30 July).
"We want to reopen educational institutions step by step, considering public safety and risks,” said Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury.
Earlier, the meeting was held to discuss several important issues, including the overall law and order situation in the country, the curfew, the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Shibir, and the ongoing anti-discrimination quota reform movement.
The meeting was attended by Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Law Minister Anisul Haq, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury, State Minister for Labour and Employment Md. Mujibul Haque Chunnu, State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Zunaid Ahmed Palak, and State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat. Additionally, the Foreign Secretary, Commerce Secretary, and two Secretaries from the Security and Public Safety Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs were present.
Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, along with chiefs of RAB, BGB, and Ansar, and other officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, also attended the meeting.
