Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has provided financial assistance to the families of 34 individuals who lost their lives during the quota reform protests.
Among those who received aid were the relatives of Abu Sayeed, a student from Rangpur, who met with the PM at Ganabhaban on Sunday (28 July).
During the meeting, Prime Minister Hasina handed over savings certificates and cash to the bereaved families.
The quota reform movement, demanding changes to the government job reservation system, saw widespread violence and attacks on state properties, including BTV Bhaban premises.
To control the escalating situation, the regular law enforcement agencies were supplemented with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
In response to the unrest, the government imposed a curfew from midnight on 19 July until 10am on 21 July.
This was later extended indefinitely, although relaxed for a few hours each day as conditions improved.
The relaxation periods have been gradually increased as the situation continues to stabilise.
