Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said the responsibility of holding accountable those who have destroyed the nation's assets falls upon the people of the country.
During her visit to the damaged metro rail stations at Mirpur-10 and Kazipara in the capital on Thursday morning (25 July), the Prime Minister made this remark.
"The government has undertaken numerous development projects to alleviate the sufferings of the people. It is now the duty of the citizens to stand against those who have destroyed these developments. The people of this country must bring these perpetrators to justice," the Prime Minister said.
She further questioned the mentality behind destroying infrastructure designed to ease people's lives. "Despite the traffic congestion in Dhaka city, the metro rail has provided relief. I cannot fathom the mentality of those who have destroyed this modern transportation technology," she added.
On 19 July amid the quota reform protests, miscreants carried out attacks on Mirpur-10 and Kazipara metro stations, vandalising vending machines, ticket counters, police control rooms, computers, television screens, and close circuit cameras.
