Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said individuals responsible for violent actions under the pretence of student protest will be identified and prosecuted under the law.
"Anti-state elements were manipulating students to render the country dysfunctional," he said during a press briefing at the Secretariat on Wednesday (24 July).
On Tuesday (23 July), the home boss said a terrorist group or quarter with vested interest was involved in the violence and arson attacks on state-owned establishments in an attempt to topple the government.
“A terrorist group that is against the Liberation War was behind the violence in the country on 28 October 2023, to topple the government. You all are well aware of this. This month, they again carried out attacks on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway, state-owned establishments and different parts of the country,” he said while talking to reporters after visiting the Narsingdi Central Jail.
After nearly 5 days of no connectivity following widespread unrest and violence across the country, internet connection services have resumed on a limited scale as the nationwide curfew completes its fourth day.

Bangladesh has been shaken by multiple incidents of violence and unrest since Wednesday (17 July) as the ongoing students’ protest for reform in the quota system in government jobs took a gritty turn.
Miscreants infiltrated the movement and vandalised public properties, important government offices, and other infrastructures and set many of those on fire.
Following the violence and multiple casualties, the government imposed a nationwide curfew on Saturday (20 July) and deployed armed forces to assist the civil administration in ensuring national security and protecting lives and properties.
While the government has decided to continue the nationwide curfew until further notice, the curfew will be relaxed for longer periods, said officials.
According to a notification from the public administration ministry on Tuesday (23 July), all government, semi-government and autonomous offices open from 11am to 3pm from Wednesday (24 July) after a four-day general holiday.
Banks will also reopen and transactions will be done from 11am to 3pm for now.
It also said, that in Dhaka, Narsingdi, Narayanganj and Gazipur, the curfew will continue with a break from 10am to 5pm from now on until further notice, while curfew timings will be decided by local administration for other districts.
