Quota reform activists at Dhaka University have declined to leave their residential halls despite the university's decision to close the campus indefinitely amid the ongoing movement.

"We reject the decision to close the halls and campus. No one will leave the halls. We will remain on our campus," Asif Mahmud, one of the prominent coordinators of the quota reform movement, made a public announcement via the anti-quota discrimination platform on Facebook.

DU administration announced the indefinite closure of the university to ensure the safety of students amidst ongoing protests on Wednesday (17 July).

As part of this decision, students were instructed to vacate their residence halls by 6pm.

However, the protesting students have outrightly rejected this directive.
