The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against seven individuals, including Imran Hossain, the owner of Sadeeq Agro farm, on charges of fraudulence.
ACC Assistant Director Abul Kalam Azad lodged the case with the Integrated District Office, Dhaka-1, on Tuesday (16 July).
The other six accused are Monirul Islam, Director, Central Cattle Breeding and Dairy Farm; ABM Khaleduzzaman, Director (Production), Department of Livestock Services;
Saiful Islam, Buyer Officer, Central Cattle Breeding and Dairy Farm, Savar; Firoz Ahmed Khan, Upazila Livestock Officer (Leave Reserve), Central Cattle Breeding and Dairy Farm, Savar; ABM Salah Uddin, Deputy Director (Leave/Reserve Training and Reserve Post), attached to the Director (Production) office, Department of Livestock Services;
Tohidul Alam Zenith, Proprietor, Sadeeq Agro.
According to the case statement, the accused imported banned and unsuitable cattle for breeding, harmful to the domestic dairy and cattle industry, by creating fake authorization documents. These cattle, valued at approximately Tk15 crore, were seized by customs and meant to be sold at affordable prices to the public as meat through mobile sales centers during the last Ramadan.
However, the accused disregarded this directive, violated all regulations, and embezzled the 15 Brahma cattle by falsely recording their slaughter.
The ACC statement said they committed offenses punishable under Sections 420/409/467/468/471/109 of the Penal Code and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
