The Dhaka University authorities said stern action as per university ordinance will be taken if any of its student gets involved in any kind of untoward incident in the campus.
In response to the clash between anti-quota protesters and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists on the DU campus, the university's Provost Committee has issued 5 directives for students following an emergency meeting.
The Provost Committee convened an emergency meeting on Monday (15 July), chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal.
The directives issued are as follows: students should stay peacefully in their respective halls; provosts and residential teachers will remain in the halls to ensure student safety and take necessary measures; no outsiders are allowed to stay in the halls; everyone is urged to refrain from spreading rumors or propaganda; everyone is asked to abstain from any subversive activities.
The committee also cautioned that strict action will be taken against anyone who violates these rules according to university regulations.
The meeting also appealed to everyone to act responsibly in order to maintain a peaceful educational environment at the university.
Present at the meeting were Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Muhammad Samad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Sitetsh Chandra Bachar, Treasurer Professor Momtaz Uddin Ahmed, along with various provosts and house tutors from different halls.
