Protesters of quota reform movement have claimed that the Bishwakabi Rabindranath Tagore Hall unit of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) attacked them around 3am early Monday.

Following the incident, the hall provost, Professor Nazmul Hasan Talukder, resigned from his position.

Earlier, around 9pm, students from various halls began chanting slogans such as "We sought rights, we became razakars." They gathered at the Bottola area on the campus around 11:30pm.

At that time, allegations surfaced that BCL leaders and activists had blocked two protesters in Rabindranath Hall. In response, the protesters positioned themselves in front of the hall at around 12:30am to demand their release.
