Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) deployed 5,000 sanitation workers and 10 quick response teams to tackle waterlogging on city roads on Friday morning (12 July).

Major city roads have already been cleared of waterlogging. Five DNCC pumps in Kalyanpur have been operating simultaneously since morning to address the waterlogging caused by heavy rains efficiently, said DNCC issuing a press release.

The Meteorological Department reported that 60 millimeters of rain fell in the capital within three hours this morning, the highest rainfall recorded in the country today.

Due to continuous heavy rains over a short period, it took some time to remove the accumulated water, said the release.

Quick response teams are being dispatched to clear drains in areas where waterlogging persists, ensuring proper water flow.

The DNCC urged residents to call their hotline at 16106 if there is any water accumulation, promising that a quick response team will take immediate action.

Following instructions from DNCC Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam, related departments, including the engineering and waste departments, have been working since dawn to address the situation.
