Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) has suspended five officials who were arrested in connection with leaking question papers for public service recruitment examinations.

The BPSC issued a notification, signed by Chairman Md. Sohorab Hossain, on Tuesday (9 July).

The suspended officials are PSC Deputy Directors Abu Zafar and Jahangir Alam, Assistant Director Alamgir Kabir Noman Siddique, PSC despatch writer Khalilur Rahman, and office assistant Sajedul Islam. They have been suspended from service under the Employment Act and will receive subsistence allowances as per the rules.

Yesterday (9 July), the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested 17 people, including two deputy directors and two assistant directors of BPSC, on allegations of leaking question papers for government job exams.

Earlier today, seven out of the 17 individuals were brought to the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court to record confessional statements under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The remaining ten detainees have been sent to jail.
