5 electrocuted in Bogura during Ratha Yatra

The Ratha Yatra procession, which commenced from Seujgari ISKCON temple at 5pm, encountered the fatal accident just 10 minutes into its journey.

At least five individuals died, and 39 others were injured due to electrocution during the Ratha Yatra (chariot procession) in Bogura town.

The incident occurred around 5:15 pm on Sunday (7 July), in the Seujgari Amtoli area of the town, said Bogura Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saihan Oliullah. 

The deceased victims have been identified as Alak Sarkar (40), Atashi Rani (40), Ranjita Mohanta (60), Naresh Mohanta (65), and an unidentified woman.

The Ratha Yatra procession, which commenced from Seujgari ISKCON temple at 5pm, inadvertently came into contact with a high-voltage electric wire just 10 minutes into its journey, resulting in a fire.

The injured were promptly rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital, as well as Mohammed Ali Hospital, for urgent medical attention, said Saihan Oliullah.
