The inflation in the country has gone down from 9.89% in May to 9.72% in June, said the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
Food inflation declined to 10.42% in June from 10.76% in May, according to the latest inflation updates of the BBS report released on Sunday (7 July).
Non-food inflation also eased slightly to 9.15% in June, from 9.19% in May.
Bangladesh has been experiencing high inflation rates over the threshold of 9% for the past 2 years.
Efforts to keep it in check remained unsuccessful, except for slight fluctuations.
Economists believe that high inflation is now one of the major challenges for the economy.
A 9.72% inflation means consumers had to spend Tk109.72 to purchase a product in June this year - which used to cost them Tk100 in June last year.
