A Tk10 crore bungalow owned by former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed has been seized following a court order.

A team comprising the Narayanganj district administration and the district Anti-Corruption Commission seized the bungalow at 3:30 pm on Saturday, said ACC (Narayanganj) Deputy Director Moinul Hasan Rowshani.

According to an ACC investigation, Benazir Ahmed purchased 55 decimals of land in the 'Ananda Housing Society' residential project, located beside the Demra-Kanchan road in a secluded area, from the heirs of the late Premananda Sarkar for Tk1.83 crore eight years ago. Four years ago, he built a luxurious duplex house on this land.

Staff of the housing project said each katha of land is sold for Tk40 to 45 lakh. Benazir Ahmed purchased 24 kathas to construct his bungalow.

The security guard responsible for maintaining the house said it was built around 2022. During his stay in the country, Benazir Ahmed occasionally visited and stayed at the bungalow. The property is under constant security, with a caretaker and two dogs.
