The meeting between the teachers protesting against the inclusion of public universities under the universal pension scheme "Pratyay" and Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader is not taking place today.

The meeting has been postponed due to the minister’s tight schedule surrounding state matters, said Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan, Secretary General of the University Teachers Association Federation and President of the Dhaka University Teachers Association.

He said Awami League Office Secretary Biplap Barua informed him about the development over the phone this morning.

Nizamul Haque also added that the minister will soon sit with them.

Meanwhile, the continuous boycott of academic activities, which has stretched to the fourth day today, has left 35 public universities at a standstill.

To address the crisis, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader and Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel were supposed to sit with the protesting teachers today.

The teachers' federation also held a meeting yesterday, anticipating Thursday’s meeting with Quader. However, the Awami League postponed the meeting this morning.
