Bangladesh is expected to witness more rain than normal in the month of July, with a possibility of short to mid-term flood-like situations in some parts of the northern regions, said the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
In its long-term forecast for July, the met office stated due to heavy monsoon rainfall in July, short to mid-term flood situations may occur in some parts of the northern, north-eastern, north-western, north-central, and central regions of the country. Additionally, short-term flash floods may occur in some areas of the south-eastern hilly basin.
The met office also forecast one to two low-pressure over the Bay of Bengal during this period, with one possibly developing into a monsoon depression.
The forecast also predicts 3-4 days of moderate thunderstorms with lightning in the northern, north-western, and central regions, and 5-6 days of light thunderstorms with lightning across the country.
This month, 1-2 isolated mild heat waves (36-38°C) may occur, and both daytime and nighttime temperatures are expected to be slightly higher than normal.
