DU to celebrate 104th founding anniversary on July 1

Dhaka University (DU) is set to celebrate its 104th founding anniversary with the theme 'Higher Education for Skill Development of Young Generation' on July 1.

The authorities of the country's highest echelon of academic excellence have chalked out elaborate programmes to mark the day.

DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal will officially inaugurate the day-long programme as the chief guest.

The inaugural ceremony will take place at Payra Chattar in front of the university's Teacher-Student Center at 10 am on July 1.

The opening programme includes hoisting of national, DU and hall flags, releasing of pigeons and balloons and cutting of cake.

A colourful procession will start from Smriti Chirantan Chattar at 9.30 am on the day and it will end at Payra Chattar. 

VC Maksud Kamal will lead the procession where teachers, students, officers and employees of the university will participate in.

Later, a discussion session will be held in the TSC Auditorium on the theme. Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will address the discussion as chief guest.

The cover of the 2nd volume of the book titled 'Smaranika' and 'Dhaka University, History and Heritage' will be unveiled at the outset of the discussion programme.

On this day, no classes will be held from 8.00 am to 1.00 pm. However, the examinations will be held as usual.

The road leading from Nilkhet to Fuller Road area will be restricted for vehicular movement from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
