Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has launched an eviction drive at Sadeeq Agro's farm in the capital's Mohammadpur area for illegally occupying the land.

The operation began at 12:30pm on Thursday (27 June).

During the drive, a tin-shed establishment was demolished alon with the main building of the agro farm, which falls on canal land, DNCC said.

According to DNCC officials, the agro farm had encroached on the Ramchandrapur canal and fenced off parts of a road to establish an unauthorised cattle market.

Meanwhile, Imran Hossain, the owner of Sadeeq Agro, said, "I am not the owner of this land. I am a tenant here. I will move to another place."

Locals said the Sadeeq Agro's workers had moved several cows from there on Wednesday night before the operation began.

In addition, they have also removed some temporary structures built on the roads.

The agro farm came to the limelight during this Eid-ul-Azha for its expensive cattle, one of which is the controversial Tk15 lakh goat.
