Opposition Party Leader in Parliament GM Quader said politicians should be targeted to curb corruption in the country.

“It is the politicians who promote corruption by taking advantage of corrupt bureaucrats. Bureaucrats commit corruption, and businessmen-turned-politicians become corrupt only when politicians give them the scope. To get rid of this situation, the focus should be on politicians,” said GM Quader.

The Jatiyo Party chairman made the remarks during a talk with media people at the Jatiyo Party’s Banani office in Dhaka on Wednesday (26 June).

GM Quader said, “There are previous instances of uncovering the corruption of corrupt people arbitrarily. But we don’t know their ultimate fate. Those who were arrested during the crackdown on casinos are now in good condition.”

He added, “Politicians have long been providing cover for corruption. While the Anti-Corruption Commission gives major attention to opposition party members, big shots remain out of reach under the favor of the government. No one should be upheld above the law.”
