Law enforcement agencies, comprising the Bangladesh Army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and the police, arrested three members of the Kuki Chin National Front (KNF) from Ruma Upazila of Bandarban on Friday (21 June).

The arrestees were identified as God Galri Bom (31), Sang Khum Bom (38), and Zephaniah Bom (19). All three are accused in cases related to bank robbery and other criminal activities and are residents of Ward No. 7 of Paindu Union in Ruma Upazila.

They were brought to the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of Bandarban by a prison van under strict police security on Saturday (22 June). After the hearing, Senior Judicial Magistrate Syeda Suraiya Akhtar ordered the accused to be sent to jail, said Bandarban Court General Record Officer (GRO) Biswajit Singh.

So far, a total of 108 individuals, including 107 KNF members and a car driver, have been arrested. Among them, 25 are women. 

Additionally, 14 KNF personnel were killed in an attack on a joint force patrol.

On 2 April, the Chattogram Hill Tracts-based KNF robbed money from Sonali Bank in Ruma Upazila, snatched arms and ammunition from Ansar members, and kidnapped the bank manager.

Robbers, on 3 April, looted money from the Krishi and Sonali banks stationed in Thanchi Upazila of the district.

Following these alarming incidents, law enforcement agencies, including the army, RAB, police, and BGB, launched a coordinated drive against the regional armed group in Bandarban.
