At least nine people have been killed and several others are missing after a microbus carrying bridegrooms plunged into a canal, breaking through a bridge in Amtali Upazila of Barguna.
The accident occurred around noon on Saturday ( 22 June) on the bridge connecting Chawra and Haldia Hat of Amtali upazila.
Officer-in-Charge of Amtali Police Station, Kazi Sakhawat Hossain Tapu, said that nine bodies have been recovered so far, while 5-6 individuals remain missing. The microbus is still submerged.
Rescue operations are ongoing as police and fire service officials strive to recover the missing passengers and the vehicle.
