The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BRCS) distributed relief to 500 flood affected families in Sylhet on Friday (21 June).
The organisation provided dry food, drinking water, and candles to those affected by the devastating floods.
Professor M. U. Kabir Chowdhury, chairman of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, visited the flood-affected area in Sylhet to oversee the relief efforts.
In response to the acute shortage of drinking water caused by the floods, BRCS has installed three mobile water treatment plants in Sylhet and Sunamganj. These plants can purify up to 1,500 liters of water per hour. Volunteers from the Sylhet and Sunamganj Red Crescent units are operating the plants for 6 to 7 hours daily, ensuring that purified water is distributed to the flood-affected people.
