Banks in Bangladesh will operate under the Bangladesh Bank announced new schedule from Wednesday.
According to the new schedule, bank transactions will now start at 10am and continue until 4pm. Additionally, bank offices will remain open from 10am to 6pm.
However, as before, banks will observe the weekly holidays on Fridays and Saturdays.
Previously, bank transactions were conducted from 10am to 3:30pm, and office operations lasted from 10am to 5pm. Under the new schedule, bank transaction hours have been extended by 30 minutes, and office hours have been extended by an hour.
This change follows a circular issued by the Department of Offsite Supervision of Bangladesh Bank on June 9. The circular stated that, in accordance with the government's declared office hours, bank operations will follow the new schedule from June 19 until further notice. This directive was issued by the central bank under the authority granted by Section 45 of the Bank Company Act, 1991.
