On behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her Assistant Press Secretary ABM Sarwer-e-Alom Sarker distributed fruits and sweets to injured freedom fighters and the families of martyred freedom fighters at the War-Wounded Freedom Fighters Rehabilitation Center on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

The event began with speeches from the brave freedom fighters and injured freedom fighters in attendance. Following the speech by ABM Sarwer-e-Alom Sarker, the gifts sent by the Prime Minister were distributed among the residents of Freedom Fighters Tower-1.

In their speeches, the freedom fighters highly praised the visionary and strong leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. They recalled the tragic events of 15 August 1975, when the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was brutally murdered along with his family. They noted that those who illegally seized power after his assassination did not honor the freedom fighters but instead harassed and disrespected them in various ways. These authoritarian rulers also distorted the glorious history of the country.

The speakers emphasized that after forming the government in 1996, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina restored democracy and the rule of law in the country and reinstated the freedom fighters to their rightful place of honor. They expressed their utmost satisfaction with the current government under her leadership.

Lastly, the Assistant Press Secretary expressed gratitude to the Bangladeshi freedom fighters in his speech. He acknowledged their immense sacrifice during the nine-month-long bloody struggle that established the Bengali nation as victorious on the global stage. He highlighted that, in accordance with her commitment, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has fulfilled all criteria for establishing a developing Bangladesh by 2021. She continues to work tirelessly towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 and establishing a prosperous, hunger- and poverty-free, and smart Bangladesh by 2041.
