Bangladesh to celebrate Eid-ul-Adza on 17 June

The crescent moon marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah has been sighted in Bangladesh, confirming that Eid-ul-Adza will be celebrated on 17 June.

The sighting was reported on Friday evening in the Itakumari Union of Pirgacha upazila in Rangpur district, confirmed Mohammad Mobasher Hasan, deputy commissioner of Rangpur.

The National Moon Sighting Committee, led by Religious Affairs Minister Md Faridul Haque Khan, made an official announcement shortly. 

Earlier yesterday, Saudi Arabia and several other Middle Eastern countries confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon.

Eid-ul-Adza will be celebrated in Saudi Arabia on 16 June, with the Day of Arafat on 15 June.
