Default loans in the banking sector stood at Tk1,82,295 crore as of the end of March this year, according to the latest data published by the Bangladesh Bank on Thursday (6 June).
This amount constitutes around 11% of the total disbursed loans.
In the three months leading up to March this year, bad loans increased by Tk36,367 crore, marking a 25% rise from the previous three months, as per BB data.
At the end of December last year, the default loans amounted to Tk1,45,633 crore, accounting for 9% of the total disbursed loans.
