The swearing-in ceremony for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third term has been rescheduled from 8 June to 9 June at 6pm due to unavoidable circumstances, according to sources.

The delay is attributed to ongoing talks with the BJP's major allies.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan with hundreds of guests, including foreign dignitaries, in attendance.

Invitations have been sent to leaders from neighbouring countries such as Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Mauritius.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was supposed to leave for India tomorrow (7 June) as PM Modi extended his invitation, however, she will now go there on 9 June.

Although the NDA crossed the 290-seat mark, the BJP did not reach the majority mark of 272 seats in the Lok Sabha.

As a result, the TDP, led by Chandrababu Naidu in Andhra Pradesh, and the JD(U), led by Nitish Kumar in Bihar, have emerged as crucial supporters for forming the coalition government.

The JD(U) won 12 seats, and the TDP secured 17 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Over 25-30 ministers and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are expected to be sworn in.
