The maritime ports -- Mongla, Payra, Chattogram, and Cox’s Bazar -- have been advised to lower the great danger signals and instead hoist cautionary signal No-3, as the severe cyclonic storm Remal has significantly lost its strength.

The severe cyclonic storm "Remal" over Koyra, Khulna moved northwards; weakened into a cyclonic storm and further weakened into a land deep depression over Jashore and adjoining area, stated the 19th special bulletin issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Departmant on Monday.

It is likely to move northeastwards further and weaken into a land depression by giving precipitation gradually, the met office added.

All fishing boats and trawlers over north Bay have been advised to remain in shelter till tomorrow morning (May 28) and then proceed with caution.

The met office also added that it would no longer issue further special weather bulletin regarding Remal.

Earlier, on Sunday, the BMD issued great danger signal No-10 for Mongla and Payra ports and great danger signal No-9 for Chattogram and Cox's Bazar ports.
