Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram has been declared closed from 12:00 noon to 8:00pm Sunday due to the cyclonic storm Remal in the Bay of Bengal.
An airport authority official informed the media about the decision today.
In a special notification issued on Sunday morning regarding Cyclone Remal, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department asked Payra and Mongla ports to hoist great danger signal No 10. Chattogram and Cox's Bazar ports have been directed to display great danger signal No 9.
Following these directives, the airport authorities decided to close the airport and implement maximum precautionary measures to deal with the cyclone.
