A dump truck loaded with soil struck the P-364 pillar of the Metrorail after losing control on the steering following a head-on collision with a Chattogram-bound bus early Saturday.
The accident occurred around 3:30am at the Agargaon intersection, just before the Agargaon metro station, said Kafrul police station's Sub-Inspector SI Monir Hossain.
He said, "A bus and a truck collided at the Agargaon intersection. Following the collision, the truck lost control and hit pillar number 364, leaving bus severely damaged."
In the incident, the driver and helper of the bus were injured and are currently receiving treatment at the hospital, the police officer added.
He said the driver of the truck fled the scene after the crash.
The bus has been taken into police custody, but no formal complaint has been filed at the police station yet, Monir Hossain added.
Deputy Manager (Security) of Metrorail Azad said, "We arrived at the scene after receiving news of the accident to assess any potential damage to our pillar. Our expert engineering team will conduct a detailed inspection."
