The 7.5km long metro rail route from Uttara North to Tongi Railway Station will have a total of 5 stations along the way, Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Managing Director MAN Siddique said.

"Once the work on this route from Uttara North to Tongi railway station is completed, the metro rail will be able to carry an additional 5 lakh passengers. There will be 5 new stations on this route," he said while speaking at a branding seminar for the Dhaka metro rail on Sunday (19 May).

"MRT Line-6 of Metrorail has gained popularity as the capital's fastest public transport. At present, passengers are travelling on this route from Uttara to Motijheel for work," he added.

The route is currently being extended from Motijheel to Kamalapur railway station.

DMTCL has started the process of extending the project from Uttara Uttara Station to Tongi Railway Station.
