The Rajshahi district administration has scheduled the date for beginning mango harvest on May 15.

Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ahmed said mango growers will be permitted to begin harvesting the Guti variety of mangoes from May 15, followed by other varieties in succession.

The decision was made during a discussion meeting convened by Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ahmed with relevant stakeholders on Sunday, May 12, at his office.

The deputy commissioner said the meeting was convened to prevent unripe and adulterated mangoes from being sold in the market. He cautioned that legal action would be taken against any individuals found marketing mangoes before the designated dates.

The schedule for harvesting, preservation, and marketing of various mango varieties is as follows: Gopalbhog, Ranipachand, and Lakshmanbhog from May 25, Himsagar from May 30, Langra from June 10, Amrapali from June 15, Fazli from June 15, Ashwina from July 10, Bari-4 variety mango from July 5, Gaurmati variety mango from July 15, and Ilamati from July 20. Additionally, mango farmers, orchard owners, and traders can plant and market Katiman and Bari mango-11 throughout the year."
