Badiul Alam Majumder, Secretary at Shushashoner Jonno Nagorik, said the electoral system has been exiled from the country.

“Elections are a vital component of a democratic system. The electoral system we currently have is marred by controversies. Given the current situation, we can say it has been exiled,” said Badiul Alam during a views exchange meeting under the slogan "Informed, organised and vocal population is the bulwark of democracy" at a hotel in Sylhet city.

The civil rights activist said, “We fought the Liberation War to protect our rights, but now the rights of many citizens are being compromised.”

He further added, “An authoritarian government emerges when the rights of citizens are infringed upon. The current government lacks accountability.”

Dilip Kumar Sarkar, the coordinator of the Sujan Central Committee, delivered a welcome speech at the meeting chaired by Farooq Mahmud Chowdhury, the president of the platform’s Sylhet office. The session was moderated by Mizanur Rahman, the joint secretary of Sujan.
