The Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu hosted a daylong art camp on Monday, themed ‘From Mountains to the Delta’.

This event is part of a weeklong art festival organized in collaboration with Art Bangla Foundation Dhaka and Siddhartha Art Gallery, reads a press release.

The art camp saw the participation of prominent artists from Bangladesh and Nepal, including Prof Emeritus Rafiqun Nabi, Artist Monirul Islam, Professor Mohammad Eunus, and Artist Muniruzzaman Munir from Bangladesh. Nepali artists such as Artist Kiran Manandhar and Artist Sashi Shah also joined the event. 

The camp aims to celebrate and promote the rich cultural and artistic heritage of the two nations.

During the opening ceremony, Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury emphasized the deep-rooted social, cultural, and civilizational connections between Bangladesh and Nepal.

He highlighted the theme of the festival as a representation of the diverse landscapes and cultural values shared by the two countries.

"The relationship between our nations is as natural as the streams flowing from the mountains to the ocean," Chowdhury remarked.

The event also featured a musical celebration of the Bengali and Nepali New Year, with performances from artists of both countries.

This cultural exchange not only marked the new year but also strengthened the bonds of friendship through artistic collaboration.

The artworks created during the camp will be on display at the Siddhartha Art Gallery in Baber Mahal Revisited, Kathmandu, from May 7 to May 10, 2024.
