A fire broke out between the Amurbunia and Gulshakhali areas in the Chandpai range of the Sundarbans East Zone this afternoon (4 May).
The fire originated as beekeepers set fire to beehives to collect honey, said Chandpai station officer Anisur Rahman.
Local residents and forest workers, along with two firefighting units of the Morelganj Fire Service, are currently endeavoring to extinguish the flames, said the officer.
The fire has engulfed an area of around two kilometers near Amburbunia Forest Station in Sundarban, said Md Abu Taher Mia, a Union Parishad member of Nishanbaria Union.
