The Ministry of Education will not appeal against the High Court's order to close educational institutions due to the ongoing severe heat waves.

As a result, primary, secondary school and madrassa holidays remain in effect till Thursday (2 May).

“The decision on when the educational institutions will be open will be announced later,” Education Ministry Public Relations Officer Abul Khair said on Tuesday (30 April).

Earlier, on 29 April, Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury said that he would appeal against the HC order to close educational institutions due to the ongoing severe heatwave.

Meanwhile, educational institutions opened on Sunday (28 April) after a 32-day holiday due to Ramadan, Eid and summer vacations.

However, due to the searing temperatures and severe heat waves, many students and teachers fell ill in various educational institutions in the country.

As a result, the HC ordered to close all educational institutions till 2 May.
